Almost all junior crew find out about yachting through social media or reality TV. Expectations are divorced from reality if they are lucky enough to get a job. There is a big difference between working in luxury and living in luxury. As an outsider from the yacht, it is easier to come in and explain what their job is and what is expected of them. I also help to reduce resistance from junior to senior crew and explain that taking feedback is part of their job.
